Isaiah 24 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

The earth lies defiled under its inhabitants; for they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant. Isaiah 24:5 – We are seeing the whole of the earth being under God’s judgement. Rejoicing will cease, cities will be desolate, and the earth will be broken apart. Even our verse says the earth “lies defiled.” Yet what has defiled the earth? Are the judgements of God defiling it? No, it is the sinfulness of man. Man has transgressed the law, taken God’s established law and purposefully went beyond the boundary line. Man has violated the statutes, taken God’s word and changed it to be more appealing to him. Man has broken the everlasting covenant, taken the forever agreement between us and God to remain faithful to one another and broke it to chase after other things. The terror we see in our world today is a result of our choice of sin, and God has allowed such things to take place as a judgement on such sinfulness. Know today when we see the terrors in our world, it can be our eye-opening experience to our need to turn and live faithfully for our God. We all need to recognize the defiling nature of our sin, the destructive nature of our unfaithfulness to God, and the restoration our God can bring when we follow Him.
